He was born in 1955 in Ljubljana where he graduated from the Biotechnical Faculty in 1980.  He has earned numerous commendations and awards for special art-work in photography and he has participated in numerous expeditions as photographer-participant including crossing Papa New Guinea  (1500 km with a canoe along the River Sepik) and crossing the Sudan desert by canoe on the Nile River.

Some of his other notable achievements include joining a French caving expedition in China (Hunan 1996) and joining, the following year, the Slovenian caving team in Oman.  He also participated in the 18-month- long French scientific-sailing expedition "L'esprit de Bougainville"  in southeast Asia and joined the Alpinist expedition of Tomaz Humar in Nanga Parbat.

Hodalic has contributed his time to the Red Cross in numerous humanitarian actions including the earthquake relief program in Pakistan; the tsunami in Sri Lanka; and with the ITF and UN.  He has participated in de-mining projects  in the Balkans;  Armenia; Georgia; Azerbaijan; and the Congo.  Most recently he has worked with the Hospital School Soca,URI.

Currently, he serves both as the photographic editor of the Slovenian National Geographic magazine and is also visiting professor at the Faculty for Social Sciences. At VIST School for Services he is docent in Photography.

The photography from India, which is Arne's favorite destination, was created during the period 1983 - 2013.
